While Ludlow is home to some of the most iconic tourist spots in the state, like the Okemo Fire Tower and Buttermilk Falls, this small mountain town also features a local favorite tucked away beneath the trees. For the past 25 years, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the Ludlow Skatepark at Dorsey Park. It has become a staple of the Ludlow experience, offering a safe and healthy place for all to gather and enjoy time together. The skatepark offers a unique space for individuals to socialize, learn, and push themself all in one place.
Did you know that Dorsey Park is one of the most visited spots in Ludlow? With that being said, the skatepark has seen a lot of traffic over the last few decades and is now in desperate need of upgrades. The town of Ludlow is contributing $34,900 in support, but our community is coming together to match that donation (or more!) in hopes to raise enough in private donations to resurface the “street course” at the skatepark. This ambitious goal would allow the project to undergo a site excavation, drainage, system, new concrete, resurfaced ramps, and ultimately create a safer, more fun, challenging, and environmentally-friendly course.
Our friends at Main + Mountain are taking the first step in helping the cause by hosting the Ludlow Skatepark Fundraiser! This event is the perfect way to spend a summer evening with live music, a pig roast, and drink specials by the amazing mixologists at M+M. The event will also feature a Skateboard Jam, so come show off your skills while helping raise money. Finally, there will be a ticketed raffle for you to join while enjoying a drink on the patio.
Please join us on Sunday, July 11th from 12 to 8 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door; adults are $20, and children (15 and under) are $10. The entry fee will include access to the live band, use of the Darkside skate ramps, and an epic night out. The Vermont pig roast, cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks will be available for purchase via cash or card. ALL PROCEEDS from every single purchase made at this event will go DIRECTLY to the Ludlow Skatepark Fund!
The greatest part about the Okemo Valley community is our ability to join together and provide for our neighbors. Whether you are a local or a visitor, or if you last visited Dorsey park last week or years ago, you are part of this community and we need your help! We want to make sure the skatepark continues to be a destination and resource in Ludlow for another 25 years.
If you can’t make it but would still like to give back to the community, please donate today!
