While we hope you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving feast, that is only one small part of this holiday. Thanksgiving is also about giving back and supporting your community. If you are in Ludlow over the holiday, please join us in supporting various community organizations through the following wonderful events!
Turkey Trot 5K: Start your Thanksgiving morning off with Ludlow’s 16th Annual Turkey Trot! This 5K race is on November 22nd at Dorsey Park. Registration begins at 8:30am with walkers starting at 9:00am and runners beginning at 9:15am. The race welcomes runners, walkers, strollers and dogs. To participate, please bring an unwrapped gift as a donation for Toys for Tots or make a donation to the Maryann Farley Gagner Memorial Scholarship Fund that supports Black River High School students.
Trot it Off 5K: If you aren’t able to make it out on Thanksgiving morning (or even if you are), join us at the 10th Annual Trot it Off 5K at the Jackson Gore Inn & Resort at Okemo. Registration begins at 8:00am in the Cornerstone Room at Jackson Gore. Pre-registration is $25 per person or $30 per person the day of event, and $10 for the Tots Trot race. The Tots Trot will start at 9:15am and the 5K race begins at 9:30am. This is a great race to burn off those Thanksgiving calories! Proceeds benefit the Wendy Neal Scholarship Fund for Okemo Mountain School and Black River Good Neighbor Services. To pre-register, visit https://www.okemo.com/event/trot-it-off-5k/.
Christmas Craft Fair: The 39th Annual Black River Christmas Craft Fair is being held on Saturday, November 24th, 2018 in the Black River High School gymnasium, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This great craft fair features many local Vermont artists and crafters, making it the perfect place to find your holiday gifts! As usual, the Black River High School senior class will be selling wreaths and offering a homemade lunch.
Depot Dining: For the first time, The Downtown Grocery and Stemwinder are joining forces to bring us “Dine Down Depot” on Sunday, November 25th, 2016, beginning at 5pm. This awesome event is being held outside on Depot Street and includes 5 courses + wine pairings and 1 table. The cost is $135.00 per person (tax & tip included); fire pits and stand-up heaters are included, but please bring your own blanket. Better yet, these generous restaurants are donating all profits from the evening to the Powers Family, whose Andover Street home was destroyed in an accident this past summer. To reserve a table or for information, contact The Downtown Grocery, 802-228-7566. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
Vermont Properties Coat Drive: Don’t forget about our annual Coat Drive happening until December 2nd! Bring any outer garments that are clean and in good condition to 29 Locust Hill Rd, Ludlow, VT. Our hours are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Saturday and 10:00am-4:00pm on Sundays. All donations will be given to Black River Good Neighbors to support local families in need.
So, bring your friends and family to experience these great Ludlow events, all of which benefit local members of the community. Not only are they fun holiday outings, they are also for wonderful causes!
