The complexes of Okemo Mountain-Solitude Village

Located in the Green Mountains, Okemo is known as one of the most popular ski areas in New England. The mountain has been through significant changes and expansions since opening in January of 1956.

Beginning in 1982 new ownership brought dramatic improvements and opened the door for decades of repeated record breaking skier visits. Since that time, several top notch complexes have been completed; the most recent being the ambitious Jackson Gore Development.  Each week we will bring you information about these various complexes.

Solitude sign-spring web       We focus this week on Solitude. Located mid-mountain, Solitude delivers some of the best long range views and convenient trail access. Though located in the center of this busy mountain, it lives up to the given name, providing a bit of privacy at the end of the day.

Single houses dot both the upper and lower villages with condo options in between. These properties boast a variety of floor plans ranging from 1-5 bedrooms and true ski in/ski out access complete with a high speed chair lift from the Day Lodge and a second chairlift in the Lower Village.

Complementing this ski in/ski out convenience, Solitude Village offers a centrally located recreation center with indoor/outdoor heated pool, hot tubs, fitness room, and the Epic restaurant.

Busiest Okemo Real Estate Market in 4 Years

The 2013 ski season ended on a high note with lots of snow still on the slopes and plenty of skiers racking up their ski days right up until closing day.

As real estate professionals we are asked often when the busiest sales time of year is.  Typically the answer is "going into and out of the ski season".  The end of this year's ski season was truly one of the busiest we have seen in nearly 4 years!  The number of closed property transactions is up over 2012 and interest rates have remained lowed.  Many buyers we are working with have been watching our market and realize prices are favorable and interest rates will not stay at these 30 year lows forever.

Now is the time to buy!

Real Estate in the Okemo Ludlow Area is in Demand!

View of Okemo

While the freezing temperatures might be the talk of this week it is the warming real estate market that has local Realtors® buzzing.  Here at Vermont Properties we are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of inquiries coming into our office.   Armed with smartphone apps buyers know the inventory, price changes and days on market with a touch of the screen.

Nationally headlines talk of rising home sales and the decrease in foreclosures and short sales.  This is great news!  Here in Vermont we were slow to get hit with the downward market trend but it appears Vermont real estate is right on track to follow the upswing in the market.

When you live and sell real estate at the base of Okemo Mountain there is no denying that snow sells!   While it is still a buyer's market in most segments of our inventory base, don't overlook that there is a definite decrease in available lake homes and larger ski in/out condominiums and a noticeable increase in demand.

As a smart consumer, you've probably been watching this market closely waiting for the best price on the right property. As experienced Realtors®, we believe the time to buy is now!
